Have you ever had one of those conversations when everything just falls into place, where what the other person is saying really strikes a chord and, suddenly, you can see what you need to do? Well, that happened to me earlier this year when I was talking to a good friend of mine, Lucy Gilchrist.
As many of you will know, I have been a trainer, therapist and coach for more than twenty years. I love how my straight-forward approach (and gentle sense of humour) always gets positive outcomes for the people I work with. I wasn’t looking for anything else – until that conversation happened.
I have known Lucy for many years. She’s a great coach and mentor, and we keep in touch regularly. Lucy was telling me that she was aware of how issues around menopause are becoming so important in the workplace – both for employers and staff – and that she wanted to do something to address it. I realised that my track record of empowering people fits perfectly with that goal. By the end of our conversation, Lucy and I had agreed to set up The Menopause Champions, in proud partnership with Menopause Experts, the award-winning brand.
The Menopause Champions provide education and events to empower women going through the menopause, be it peri-, post, sudden onset or even pre- (to prepare you for what’s coming). The most important thing at each stage is:
• To be informed,
• To be ready,
• To have a plan and
• To be resourceful.
To do this we provide training in the four areas that will help women journey safely through menopause:
• Food and Nutrition, and
We also have courses for men, team leaders and managers to help them understand the challenges of menopause.
There are three ways to get education and training:
• You can join The Menopause Champions Private Facebook Group where you will be nurtured as the years go by and as the stages of menopause change. This includes FREE access to The Menopause Experts online training of 66 modules that covers everything you need to know about menopause.
• You can attend our live, face-to-face or online, UNDERSTANDING MENOPAUSE training events, which cover all four areas and includes the FREE online training pack too. Good for referencing changing symptoms.
• You can opt-in to a 6-week coaching programme and other events, all of which are designed to empower you and make your life easier.
You can also sign up for the Quarterly magazine ‘Menopause Life’ from our partners Menopause Experts.
Employers are increasingly realising that not only is menopause a ‘duty of care’ issue but it is impacting significant numbers of their staff, at a time when staff retention and recruitment is a growing challenge.
We have a range of packages available for employers to help them create a Menopause Friendly Environment, from licensing them to deliver the Menopause Experts training themselves to a full-support package where we implement it for you. We can also provide emotional support.
As you can probably tell, I am excited that we are launching this project now and that we have our first events in the diary. I believe that The Menopause Champions will make a real difference for so many women, workplaces and families and we’ve already started. I will still be working as Wellbeing Dynamics, supporting individuals to find happiness and am eager to use my experience to help women have a happy menopause too!
If you’re interested in the menopause for yourself, your partner or a friend, please join the Facebook Group where we will be providing you with live events, helpful articles and ideas to uplift and inspire you. From there you’ll be able to access the training, the free quarterly magazine, catch up on postings that have been made so far and learn about our first event which we are holding in Winchester, Hampshire. That event is on 27th June and you can book it here.
(Our own website will be up and running shortly!)
I do hope you’ll come and join us. Menopause determines the end of reproduction not the end of experiencing life as a beautiful, sentient woman with so much to offer.
I look forward to seeing you there.
